We have undershot… Have no fear we have still made progress 🌲

This blog was distributed to our first 200+ backers via email.

Kia ora,

Today is Monday and after our initial target of 1,000 signups we are realising that our organic outreach has not hit our intended sign up rate.

Have no fear though, we are all about iteration, continued learning and adding value.

As the legendary Paul Graham states in his infamous "Do things that don't scale" blog...

"If you keep growing at 10% a week you'll be surprised how big the numbers get. Starting at 100, after a year you'll have 14,000 users, and after 2 years you'll have 2 million."

This week we have grown by 14% (so far) 180→207 sign ups 🚀

After spreading our current 100 year vision far and wide last week we have once again deepened our insights into who our product is for and what we need to improve on to grow our kaupapa.

If you are reading this and have signed up last week, we welcome you with warm hearts as we embark on buying our first forest 💛

We have had over 60 discussions through the different forums where we engaged for feedback on our 100 year vision.

Where to from here?

  1. Weekly contributions - we are in the final stages of formalising the legal structure for the "wallet" that will enable you to start making weekly contributions.

  2. Scout our first forest - this week we have started the onboarding of a trusted Forestry Industry Expert to advise and support us in sourcing our first forest (announcement coming soon).

  3. Plan first forests regeneration plan and expected returns - We have also worked on enlisting the support of a financial modeller and green investment expert to create our first plan (more to come).

  4. Buy our first forest

We didn't hit our 1,000 target you might say? Does this mean we can still proceed?

In short, yes!

What are the limitations with just the initial 200+ signups?

We can purchase our first forest based on the proportionality of our weekly contributions once we turn the wallet on and start to get some forecasts of how much we will have by when.

e.g. 200 people contributing an average of $20 per week for 25 weeks (6 months) = $100k

As you know there will be optionality for lump sum contributions and we will keep growing the amount of contributors so we should expect this number to ramp up based on our indicated yearly pool of $650k investment interest per annum.

To start the week on a high note, this was our favourite discussion/link that was shared with us by an avid Regenerate NZ fans this week.

How the culture of the Oxford Arborists saved the Oak ceilings of the Grand Hall 500 years later by planting Oak trees on campus in the 14th Century.

Checkout the the 60 second video here,

"In an era where as a society we are suffering from short term thinking, worrying about next quarter’s financial report rather than long term survival as a species, this should serve as a reminder to the sacred duty we carry for the long term."

Have a superb week and we will be in touch later this week.

Kia māia,

Jonny & Alex

We have a 100 year vision to Regenerate our Forests, can you help us?
