• We are the only forestry investment option that allows you to dictate how big, small and how frequently you contribute - you call the shots. We are giving you the opportunity to collectively own an asset that is unattainable for the majority of us alone kiwis. Ultimately and to make making Aotearoa a better place in doing so.

  • Until we buy our first pine block we don’t have a confirmed ROI - you can see the progress to hitting our target to buy our first pine block by signing up and downloading our investor app (we are very close!).

We anticipate ROI landing at 6% once we do purchase blocks.

  • This is important now because forestry requires long term investment cycles. For a pine forest to be most effective, we have been informed that two harvest cycles are required. This provides the opportunity to get full profitability from a forest investments before complete conversion.

Currently in the next 5-10 years New Zealand has a significant amount of forestry assets up for sale due to the last 20-25 year harvest cycle reaching maturity.

This presents Regenerate NZ with a unique opportunity to become custodians and kaitiaki of these forests.

The roadmap for when we do start purchasing blocks looks like:

1-10 year horizon Focus on forest lumber as main return vehicle

10-50 year horizon Mixed model revenue of timber, innovative timber products and carbon

50+ year horizon Regenerative plantations and innovative land use models for the people.

  • By investing into RegenerateNZ you are buying land currently used for Pine Tree Blocks across New Zealand. Once these assets have been purchased RegenerateNZ will be actively aiming to convert that land into a regenerative ecosystem with a focus on delivering a financial return.

We are inspired by the transparency of Simplicity and the ease of use of Sharesies & Hatch. We will be looking to build something along the same vain. A simple to use platform where you can learn how your money is making a difference, fees, taxes and returns.

  • Once you have signed up, you can now start building up your investment portfolio by by setting up weekly contributions to your RegenerateNZ wallet.

Soon, we will be calling to action all of our investors to purchase our first forest.

  • The short answer is not right now. We understand this is a complex topic and a market that is moving quickly with lots of speculation.

As the long term vision is to transition to a regenerative forest we do not intend to initially plant into permanent "carbon sinks" like some companies are doing currently.

Forestry is complex in that if you cut down the tree you plant and have claimed credits on it, you have to buy back the credits you claimed if you cut that tree down in the future.

We are working with leading researchers, analysts and thought leaders from our network to navigate this volatile topic.

  • The land is privately owned by you and the other investors of RegenerateNZ however we don’t believe in planting, locking the gate and coming back in 25 years. We believe that there is more than one way to utilise the beautiful land we own and we will be aiming to always make it accessible to the people.

  • There is a big difference between small and big pine blocks. Our focus is on the small - the ones that are not all the conducive to our countries logging market. Small pine blocks are typically close to cities/towns, surrounded by native bush, parks or pasture land and were planted to make an extra buck in the 90’s. The outcome is that they have done damage to the soil, the native wildlife and landscape of our country.

  • We want to share our learnings with other countries who are looking for a successful impact investment model and establish a world overflowing with regenerative projects.

  • You have to start somewhere.

During the Covid lockdown we asked ourselves, how might we deliver a Maui like plan, for not just our generation but our future generations to...

Regenerate New Zealand Pine Tree Blocks back to Native Forests within 100 years, by enabling everyday New Zealanders to profitably invest as much or as little as they like.

Combining our curiosity on similar topics:

    - Climate change

    - New Zealand Inc. (a better future for Aotearoa)

    - Business

    methodologies;

    - Jobs to be done framework

    - Validate before building

    - Start things right this time around (yes we have had some significant learnings experiences on our journeys)

    and personal experiences:

    - Jonny’s trouble with a family interest in a forestry holding and myself a continued curiosity in soil carbon.

We donned our entrepreneurial hats and decided to dive deeper how we could contribute to creating a greater New Zealand.

So who did we talk to?

    - Kiwisaver funds

    - Small block holders

    - Large block holders

    - Banks

    - Investment managers

    - Entrepreneurs

    - NZTE

    - Forestry management companies

    - Everyday investors

    - Carbon traders

    - Senior finance and economics lecturers and PhDs

    - Anyone else who we thought might have an interesting perspective to poke holes in our curiosity

(If you think there is another group we should be talking to, please let us know)

    and what did we find?

The state of Pine Tree Forestry in NZ is bleak. There is a lot of it, it’s a game for the rich and there is not a whole lot incentivising this to change, in turn, creating a better Aotearoa for the land and people.

So what might this look like if we created a different narrative?

    - A 100 year vision for land use

    - New Zealand Forestry owned by New Zealanders

    - A profitable transition to regenerate our land

    - Empowered investors

    - Transparent tech enabled asset ownership

    - Micro contributions from many hands making a mighty contribution

But how do we get there?

    By changing the current reality...

    - Need at least $1 million+ to buy a forestry asset

    - Complicated investment schedules

    - Little or no communication of your 20 year asset holding

    - 20 year vision, 20 year profit fuelled cycle

    - Plant → harvest → cash → carbon+/-?

    - Asset rich, cashflow poor

    - Small block holder investor age risk with illiquid asset

    - Rich getting richer

    - Offshore ownership of NZ land and commodities

    to the new reality...

    - 100 year vision regenerate our land and be profitable for those invested in this vision.

    - Everyday New Zealanders enabling cashflow to collectively access a billion dollar asset

    - Transparent and visible platform to show asset growth and regeneration

    - Tech enabled efficiencies drive unparalleled industry efficiencies

    - Plant → harvest → plant → harvest → regenerate → carbon will be a bonus

    - Investor asset liquidity

with like-minded New Zealanders, like these guys…

"After uni seven of us all chipped in $20 per week beer money to our forest fund. We now own 20ha together and now that we earn more we are putting in $50 per week." - Adrian

"10 of us initially put in $10k each and now we have upped our weekly contribution to $50 per week enabling us to grow our forestry asset." - Leighton

    So what can you do?
